# Properties

Under **Properties**, you can view your properties centrally and create new properties and units.

* Create [properties](/en-start/guides-group/properties/property.md) for entire buildings and [units](/en-start/guides-group/properties/unit.md) for lettable accommodation.
* Create a parent property before creating a unit.
* For a detached house, create the property first, then a lettable unit.

#### Property

A **property** always represents the entire building, such as:

* An entire apartment building.
* An entire detached house.

It provides the parent structure for fundamental property information, including the property address.

#### Unit

A **unit** is an individual lettable space within a property, such as:

* An individual flat in an apartment building.
* Living space in a detached house.
* A self-contained flat in a two-family house.

**Process**

1. [**Create a property**](/en-start/guides-group/properties/property.md).
   * Under Properties, create the parent property, such as an apartment building.
   * Enter and save all relevant property data.
2. [**Create units**](/en-start/guides-group/properties/unit.md).
   * Select the created property.
   * Select **+ Create unit**.

**Inheritance of basic data and equipment**

* Information such as equipment features entered for a property transfers automatically to every unit.
* Record shared basic data and equipment features once only.
