# Create a deficiency

* Defects that affect the entire property (e.g. common areas or outdoor areas) are created in the property.
* Defects within a unit (e.g. damage in an apartment) are recorded directly in the respective unit.

#### Create defects

A new shortage can be created via the button "+ Create Defect".

#### Where is the shortage?

First, select the location of the defect, such as a specific room or area within an property or unit.

* Choose from the existing defined locations.
* If the corresponding location does not exist, you can enter an individual location and confirm it by clicking on **"Add"** (clicking on **"Add"** is necessary, it is not enough to just type the location in the "Add place" field).

If the defect is located in the property, you can also choose between **indoor** and **exterior**.

#### What is defective?

Specify **which component or area is affected**. Predefined types of defects are available to you for this purpose.

* Select the appropriate ironing type.
* Optionally, you can specify a new defect type and confirm it by clicking on **"Add"** (clicking on **"Add"** is necessary, it is not sufficient to just type the defect type in the "Add defect type" field).

#### Condition

Describe the current state of the deficiency. This will help later in evaluating and processing the defect.

* Select the state from the default list.
* Optionally, you can specify an individual status and confirm it by clicking on **"Add"** (clicking on **"Add"** is necessary, it is not enough to just type the status in the "Add state" field).
* In the **"Details"** field (optional) you can add additional information about the defect. If you add more details later, they are automatically listed chronologically.

#### More information (optional)

You have the option of entering further information:

* **Perpetrator:** Person or party who caused the defect.
* **Reporter:** Person or party who reported the defect.
* **Responsible:** Person or party responsible for remedying it.

This information is optional, but can facilitate subsequent tracking and attribution of responsibility.

#### Store defects

By clicking on **"Create"** the defect will be saved and added to the overview.

* If you want to document a photo of the defect directly, use the option **"Create + Image"**.
* You can then enter further defects or return to the overview.
