Only the keys that are available to you as the owner are managed in the property. You can store all the keys that you have given to your tenants in the [unit keys](https://help.immodio.app/en-start/guides-group/properties/unit/key-unit).

### General information

* Using the **“Key”** tab, all keys belonging to the property or keys that you own and have not handed over to your tenants can be digitally recorded and managed.
* All recorded keys are then clearly listed. You can create new keys using the **“+Create key”** button.

All keys recorded in the **property** are, unlike the keys recorded in the unit, **not** automatically included in the handover protocol.

#### Create key

A new key can be added using the **“Create key”** button.

#### Enter key data

In the following window, the data for the respective key type can be recorded.

<table><thead><tr><th width="170.08984375">Field</th><th>Declaration</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Key number (optional)</td><td>The key number is usually the <strong>number of the lock cylinder</strong>. It is usually located directly on the key and is used for the <strong>unique identification and assignment</strong> within the key management – e.g. E.g. <em>front door</em>, <em>apartment door</em>, <em>letterbox</em> or <em>basement</em>. It helps to clearly distinguish and manage different keys within a unit.</td></tr><tr><td>Number</td><td>Here you specify how many copies of the respective key are available. This information is important for the documentation when handing over the apartment and automates the later <strong>entry in the handover protocol</strong>.</td></tr><tr><td>Description (optional)</td><td>Optional field for internal information about the respective key. #### Save key

By clicking on “Save” the key is created in Immodio. If several keys are to be created at the same time, the next key can be entered directly via “Create key”.
