# Counter (unit)

## Counter (unit)

Using the **“Counter”** tab, a counter and the corresponding counter readings can be recorded for the unit.

* Counters that affect the entire property, such as: B. General electricity meters or water meters for total consumption are created in [Property](https://help.immodio.app/en-start/guides-group/properties/property/counter-property).
* Counters for individual units, such as B. apartment water or heat meters are created in the respective unit.

In a meter, all previously recorded meter readings are displayed chronologically.

* Using the “+ Record meter reading” button, new meter readings can be recorded for the corresponding meter at any time and documented with photos.
* Counters and meter readings are used, for example, for the handover protocol or the digital \[operating cost statement] (<https://help.immodio.app/en-start/guides-group/operating-cost-statement>) from Immodio.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you enter new meter readings when handing over the apartment, they will automatically be synchronized with the meters in the unit.
