# Bank Account

This page explains what you can use the bank account function in Immodio for and how bank transactions interact with income and expenses.

The bank account function lets you link your letting-related bank accounts to Immodio and view the associated transactions directly in Immodio. This keeps you on top of rent payments, advance payments for operating costs, back payments and expenses, and makes it easier to link payments to the matching [**income and expenses**](/en/anleitung/einnahmen-und-ausgaben.md) later on.

## What you can do with the bank account function

Under **"Bank accounts"** you can connect your banking access to Immodio and then review the imported account transactions.

The function supports you in particular with the following tasks:

* **Linking a bank account:** You can securely connect banking access to Immodio through the integrated banking service provider.
* **Managing several accounts:** If one banking access contains several accounts, they are shown as individual accounts in Immodio.
* **Viewing transactions:** You see incoming and outgoing payments with the amount, date, payment reference and contra account.
* **Filtering by account:** You can display all transactions together or select an individual account specifically.
* **Filtering by year:** The year selection lets you limit the transactions shown to a particular year.
* **Updating transactions:** The update function lets you retrieve new bank transactions again.
* **Linking payments to entries:** For income and expenses with the payment status **"Bank"** you can link matching bank transactions as the payment.

## How this fits into income and expenses

The bank account function does not replace recording an income or expense properly. A bank transaction initially only shows that money has come in or gone out. For accounting, the operating cost statement and the **DATEV export** you still record the actual income or expense with its category, assignment, amount and period.

The linked bank transaction then serves as **proof of payment** and helps you link the payment transaction traceably to the matching entry.

{% hint style="info" %}
Immodio does not automatically create a complete entry from a bank transaction. Continue to check, therefore, whether the matching income or expense is correctly recorded under [**Income and expenses**](/en/anleitung/einnahmen-und-ausgaben.md).
{% endhint %}
