# Owners
This page explains how to create an owner in Immodio and record the relevant master data and documents.
## **Definition of owner**
In Immodio an owner is a party who owns a property (that is, a [**property**](/en/anleitung/immobilien/objekt.md) or a **unit**) and acts as the landlord.

An owner can be created either as an individual or as a company. If you selected "Owner" when registering, you are created as an owner automatically.

#### **Several owners for one property or unit**
If a property belongs to several people or is held jointly through a company, this can be represented accordingly in Immodio. You can find out here how to create several owners for a property or unit and link the individual people correctly:
## Creating a new owner

### General
#### Individual
* Enter the owner's full first name and surname.
* Stating a date of birth is optional when creating an owner.
#### **Company**
* For companies, store the full company name including the legal form (for example Muster Liegenschaften GmbH).

### Adding further information
When you create a new owner, the **"Add further information"** input field lets you record important information about this owner.
Here you can select a characteristic from existing example categories or define and assign your own individual information.

### Contact
* Store the owner's contact details here.
* Stating a landline number **or** a mobile number is mandatory.
* Note that the email address entered here is later referenced in the rental agreement and is therefore made available to the tenant.

### Address
* Record the owner's full address details here. They are later used both in the digital rental agreement and in the automatically generated landlord confirmation of residence.

### Rent receipts account
* Here you can optionally state the owner's rent receipts account.
* By default the rent receipts account is listed in the digital Immodio rental agreement as the account for rent payments and for transferring the rental security, and it can be adjusted individually when creating a new tenancy.
* If you are the owner yourself and maintain the rent receipts account centrally under Parties, you do not have to enter it again when creating a new tenancy.

### Document upload
You can also record further data about the owner under the **"Document upload"** tab. You can upload or delete documents at any time.
