# Links (unit)

## Links (unit)

In the **Links** tab you can link parties to a unit. This lets you record directly in the unit which people or companies are connected with it or carry out particular activities for it.

Any party created in Immodio can be linked to a unit.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you want to link a party to a **property**, you can find more information about this **here**.
{% endhint %}

#### Examples of links

A link can make sense for the following parties, for example:

* a **cleaning service** responsible for cleaning the unit,
* a **landscaping company** that looks after the green spaces belonging to this unit,
* a **notary** who notarised the purchase of the unit,
* a **tradesperson** who regularly carries out work in the unit.

This lets you see directly in the property which parties are connected with it.

#### Linking a party to a unit

To link a party to the unit, proceed as follows:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Open the unit**

Open the unit you want to store a link for and switch to the "**Links**" tab.

<figure><img src="https://3986577705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FDGfFw4On4r2uLklBZ5ju%2Fuploads%2FMG16zGShgw6oR71eCMCI%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7dc5aed4-601c-4845-9da3-08d6ff0811e3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Link a party**

Click the "Link party" button.

<figure><img src="https://3986577705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FDGfFw4On4r2uLklBZ5ju%2Fuploads%2Fskl52PgjNsQbU2CSwwbe%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=b33fbb29-1af2-4245-8178-29e199109e0a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

A list of all the parties you have stored in Immodio opens. Click the party you want to link to the unit.

<figure><img src="https://3986577705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FDGfFw4On4r2uLklBZ5ju%2Fuploads%2Fzmg2ZpctlnClB48f5RAs%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=93a20569-5379-4c06-962e-fd4718b86fd1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Further information about the link**

<figure><img src="https://3986577705-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FDGfFw4On4r2uLklBZ5ju%2Fuploads%2F8yGKe7LaM6CEutwjcCA1%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=ccf48f4f-1090-46c3-873b-00a3d401cc24" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When linking a party you can store **further information**. Here you can describe, for example, why the party is linked to the unit or what activity they carry out for it.

{% hint style="info" %}
This information is stored only for the link concerned. It is not stored centrally with the party. This means different information can be stored for the same party depending on the unit.
{% endhint %}

**Example of a link**

A service provider works for several of your units:

* At **unit A** the service provider carries out the **garden work** in the garden area assigned to that unit.
* At **unit B** the same service provider provides **another service**.

The service provider is therefore linked to both units. In each link the relevant activity is stored as further information, but it is not saved centrally in the party. This means the "further information" originally stored in the party remains saved centrally there, while the unit-specific activities are documented directly in the respective link.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

#### Linking a tenant to a unit

Parties of the type **tenant** can also be linked to a unit.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Please note that assigning a tenant to a let unit generally has to be done through a **tenancy**. Simply linking them to the unit does **not** replace a tenancy.
{% endhint %}

An additional link to the unit can make sense, however, if the tenant carries out particular tasks for the property independently of their tenancy.

For example, a tenant can:

* take on the cleaning of the stairwell for this unit, or
* hold an additional key for this unit.

In these cases the tenant can also be linked to the unit and the activity concerned stored as further information about the link.
