Under the "Communication" menu item, Immodio offers you two ways to communicate with your tenants.

1. [**Notices**](#notices)**:** For general information to all tenants of a property (a **digital noticeboard**).
2. [**Messages**](#messages)**:** For direct, individual communication with your tenants in a tenancy.

Simply switch between the **"Notices"** and **"Messages"** tabs for this.

{% hint style="warning" %}
For your tenants to be able to receive notices and messages, **at least one tenant per tenancy must have active access** to the [**tenant portal**](/en/wissen/mieterportal.md).
{% endhint %}

### Notices

The notices module works like a digital noticeboard for all residents of a property. Here you can publish information about a property to all tenants at once, for example notes about building work or upcoming meter readings. The notices are shown automatically to all tenants who have access to the tenant portal and who have a **current tenancy** in that property. Tenants cannot reply to these notices.

### Messages

The messages module lets you communicate directly with your tenants. Communication takes place as a topic-related conversation in chat format. Once a matter has been settled, you can mark the chat as done and therefore keep track of all conversation topics at all times.

The messages are shown to all tenants of the selected tenancy in the tenant portal. This module is suitable for individual matters, queries or direct exchanges between you and your tenants. Your tenants can also use it to contact you directly with questions through the tenant portal.

<details>

What are the advantages of communicating with your tenants through Immodio

* **Data protection compliant communication:**\
 All communication takes place within the Immodio tenant portal. No personal data is transmitted through external messengers or email providers.
* **Central, structured filing:**\
 All messages are assigned to a specific tenancy and stored permanently in Immodio. This means no information is lost and you keep track at all times.
* **Traceability and documentation:**\
 Arrangements, queries and agreements remain traceable at all times and can be viewed again and easily searched when needed.
* **Clear separation of topics:**\
 Communication takes place by topic, which means matters can be handled clearly and marked as done.
* **Increased data security:**\
 Sensitive data such as contract information or tenant details is not sent through insecure or private communication channels.
