**Basic note on letting residential space**

* When **letting residential space**, it is assumed that the tenant, as the economically weaker contracting party, faces an economically stronger landlord who owns the apartment. Since renting an apartment meets an existential basic need for the tenant, there is a particular need for protection towards the landlord.
* By contrast, the landlord is generally not assumed to be existentially dependent on the letting, unless the rental income from letting residential space is their only source of income.

Please make sure that all parties and people, both on the tenant's side and on the landlord's side, are named correctly.
